{"id":1201,"date":"2013-11-14T09:21:05","date_gmt":"2013-11-14T17:21:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/preview.simple.biz\/pkperfumes\/?p=1201"},"modified":"2013-11-14T09:22:57","modified_gmt":"2013-11-14T17:22:57","slug":"body-odour-actually-complements-the-fragrance-you-wear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/preview.simple.biz\/pkperfumes\/body-odour-actually-complements-the-fragrance-you-wear\/","title":{"rendered":"Body odour actually complements the fragrance you wear"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">By Andrew MacDougall<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Body odour info and preferred fragrances could attract that special someone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cosmeticsdesign.com\/var\/plain_site\/storage\/images\/publications\/cosmetics\/cosmeticsdesign-europe.com\/formulation-science\/body-odour-actually-complements-the-fragrance-you-wear\/8566753-2-eng-GB\/Body-odour-actually-complements-the-fragrance-you-wear_strict_xxl.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It turns out we pick our perfume not only for its fragrance but for how it will interact with our\u00a0underlying body odour, according to a leading scientist.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Craig Roberts from Stirling University explains that odour is critical in coordinating\u00a0a variety of behaviours in anmals and whilst we tend t0 think that\u00a0information in human odour doesn&#8217;t really affect human behavior, It actually\u00a0does.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a Fragrance Forum on<strong><em> &#8220;Body odor in biological perspective&#8221;<\/em><\/strong>, Roberts says: &#8220;Human body odor contains information which enables us to recognize other individuals and may be used in choosing our sexual partners.&#8221; \u00a0 \u00a0Recognizing body odour In this biolological perspective has direct implications for<br \/>\nthe use of fragrances, he adds.<\/p>\n<p>The doctor presented the way in which humans pick partners with different\u00a0MHC genes, exploring why we wear perfumes if odour carries such strong\u00a0preference messages.<\/p>\n<h2>Preferred fragrance<\/h2>\n<p>Roberts explains that it was actually the introduction of clothing and\u00a0cooking that meant that our odour became unpleasant, initiating the trend of wearing perfumes, according to previous research.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0&#8220;Fragrances might not simply\u00a0mask body odour, but rather\u00a0complement it, or even\u00a0enhance the information contained within it.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We found that when someone&#8217;s body odour is combined with their preferred fragrance, the resulting blend\u00a0is more pleasant to other people than the same odour combined with an arbitrarily chosen fragrance,&#8221; he\u00a0states. \u00a0&#8220;This suggests that choice of a fragrance is influenced not only by the properties of the fragrance itself, but\u00a0also by how it will interact with that person&#8217;s underlying odor.&#8221;<br \/>\nThis logic oould suggest that we are good at selecting perfumes for ourselves but not for our partners, as\u00a0we choose fragrances that match our body odour, says Dr Roberts.<\/p>\n<p>Research shows that our natural smell interacts with the perfume we wear and that these mingled scents\u00a0affect potential sexual partners.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One implication is that fragrances might not simply mask body odour, but rather complement it, or even\u00a0enhance the information contained within it.
