\"Paul<\/a>Last week, I got the chance to visit a Quail Botanical Gardens, near San Diego, California, and smell and enjoy, and take lots of pictures.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite flowers to enjoy is the Brugmansia, with several varieties… \u00a0I’ve been working on a Brugmanisa Accord for several years, since there really isn’t an extraction of it. \u00a0I have seen somebody making a real extraction, but I seriously worry about putting that on your skin, since it is a rather dangerous plant to use in any concentrated manner, like in Perfumery, Clipped from Wikipedia:<\/p>\n

”\u00a0All parts of\u00a0Brugmansia\u00a0are poisonous, with the seeds and leaves being especially dangerous.\u00a0Brugmansia\u00a0are rich in\u00a0Scopolamine<\/a>\u00a0(hyoscine),\u00a0hyoscyamine<\/a>, and several other\u00a0tropane alkaloids<\/a>.[22]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Effects of ingestion can include paralysis of\u00a0smooth muscles<\/a>, confusion,\u00a0tachycardia<\/a>, dry mouth, diarrhea, migraine headaches, visual and auditory hallucinations,\u00a0mydriasis<\/a>, rapid onsetcycloplegia<\/a>, and death.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0The hallucinogenic effects of\u00a0Brugmansia\u00a0were described in the journal\u00a0Pathology\u00a0as “terrifying rather than pleasurable”.<\/em><\/p>\n

Some municipalities prohibit the purchase, sale, or cultivation of\u00a0Brugmansia\u00a0plants.[2]<\/a><\/sup>[28]<\/a><\/sup><\/em><\/p>\n

In 1994, 112 teenagers were admitted to hospitals from ingesting\u00a0Brugmansia\u00a0in Florida alone.”<\/em><\/sup><\/p>\n

Nonetheless, \u00a0the odor profile is really wonderful, and I enjoy smelling them whenever I encounter them, and my Brugmansia accord is coming along nicely…<\/p>\n

Also, I really enjoyed the California plants part of the garden, and while I was taking pictures of an Orchid tree, I heard a loud exclamation, “WOW! \u00a0That flower smells just like Chocolate!” \u00a0So of Course, I had to find and smell the Chocolate Flower Too!\"Chocolate<\/a><\/p>\n
